Okay, so obviously I am jinxed because when I got home from work yesterday Darby had just finished having a seizure. I should have kept my big mouth shut. I am somewhat happy though because he made it this time for almost a month. Hopefully his next one is farther off than that.

Sometimes I forget that...like the last couple of days he has been pretty sick and I am getting next to no sleep at all...especially this morn...

Darby has been checked for thyroid problems before and came back clean. I am sure it is due to his meds because when we increased the dosage the "scooting" increased in frequency and severity.

Darby does the "foot scooting" all the time and it is much worse now that he is on increased dosages of both meds. I will take foot scooting any day over a seizure because the foot scooting is easily fixed...we just put little rubber booties on him and he is good to go. We are still seizure free as ...

Recalled dog and cat foods

I am sure that most of you have already heard, but I wanted to make sure. On Friday, the makers of Eukanuba, Iams and Nutro dog and cat foods (among other brands that the Menu Foods company produces) announced the precautionary recall of a portion of the dog and cat food it manufactured between Dece...

Kurt- I actually did read your idea on kicking, but I thought as I read it the first time "that might be a little harder to do with a Dane" ;) Like I said, I am up to any new ideas so I will probably try the ice pack next time to see if it shortens the seizures and then add the lifting the following...

I actually just read about the ice packs last week and we haven't had a seizure yet, but we do plan to give it a try next time he seizes...I will try anything if it will make them shorter/milder. :) About 6 months ago during one of his seizures, Darby broke my husbands little toe with his thrashing ...

We think that Darby may be allergic to soy because when we tried changing his food last summer his skin threw a fit :( and once we switched him back to his regular food he was fine. It is so hard to find things without soy in them...once again, it is like having a very "special" kid that needs a lot...

Darby's ataxia started getting better after being on the increased Pb dosage after a few weeks also, but now they increased his KBr and the ataxia is back. He has never lifted his leg to pee--he has always squated like a girl dog ( I have no clue why) so he ends up almost on the ground when he is pe...
