General Board

I think it would great if we had a general board where you could ask and discuss other issues that your dog might be experiancing that isnt Epi related. A General overall Health surrounding your dog.

Water

How much water does everyones Epi dog drink? My Alby drinks about 1 gallon a day and has done this ever since being on PB & KBr. Now with being on the Thyroid meds he is drinking about 1.5 gallons a day!! What is the "normal" amount and can this hurt hurt him?

*Sorry paranoid Mom here!

The first 2 days that my dog was on the meds he would vomit, we werent giving food with it because we didnt know that we could. Once we started giving it to him in his food he stopped vomiting. Has he been checked for worms and parasites? Also you might have to break down and get the liver biopsy do...

Oh one more thing....they shouldnt be charging you for telling you what the lab results are or asking a question over the phone!! When you pay for testing, speaking to the doctor about said results should be already included! I would ask them about that.

Welcome! I pay $28.06 for KBr 270cc...I think. (6cc x 45 days) I use to pay $40 at my old pharmacy! I think it all depends on what they want to charge, there doesnt seem to be a standard. There are not alot of places around me that have a chemist to mix it up. The closest is 32 miles from where I li...

Yes I contacted my Vet and he wants to wait atleast 2 more weeks before they do repeat bloodwork on him. He doesnt seem unsteady and that was what they were concerned about most...(over-medicated because of the weight loss.) It is going to be a very stressful 2 weeks!

We started him on fish oil 5 days ago and it seems to be working. :) He has been on the same food for over a year now so we dont think that is the problem or we should have saw it before now I would think. Over the course of 7 days we gave him 2 bathes and repeatedly brushed him out, I think we are ...

His sister could have been warning you. Alby's sister Julie warned us after the first time he had a seizure. About 30 minutes before he would go into one she would go over and sniff his head and then come and put her head on our lap. She would keep looking at him then back at us. If we didnt pay att...

I seem to have better luck finding a Vet that knows about seizures at Animal Hospitals other then the local Vet. They see a larger range of critical patience. I would go with your gut feeling. If you think he doesnt know a whole lot about seizures then you are probably right.

Drug Side Effect?

We started Alby on Soloxine for hypothyroidism about 1 month ago. About a week ago we noticed that he was getting REALLY bad caking dandruff around his hair follical all around his neck and shoulders, not on his skin. My understanding is that hypothyroidism can cause skin problems. He never had skin...

He also got food aggressive and we had to pretty much start from scratch re-training him. He is not the same boy he was 5 yrs ago before this wi...

Is she on Pb or KBr? It says her "last" seizure was 4/2 so I am guessing that she has been diagnosed and is on meds. How long has she been on them? If she is newly medicated then yes she will be stumbling around and wandering all over the place. Are you worried about the meds or the lasting after ef...
