Seizure or too much PB?
Hi All! I need some help. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since Stewie started having seizure. He goes tonight to get his blood work checked. I'm not even sure what they check for. But anyway, last night and the night before a little after I give him his pill he starts shaking. It's like he's cold or somet...

Thanks Linda!

Calming aids along with Phenobarb
I'm going to be traveling over the holiday and am taking my dog Stewie. He had his first seizure only a week ago. He's almost back to normal but still a little hyper. The vet doesn't want to give him valium because it may interact with the pb. Has anyone come across this? I only have to drive about ...

Re: Howling, barking, and whimpering! I need sleep!
UPDATE: Stewie seems to be getting better. It seems I do have to train him again though. He learned sit again and are working on lay down. Seems like he is whining less. Even before his seizures he always wanted attention. I'm starting to wonder if he had them because of his anxiety. But in any case...

Re: Phenobarbital Side Effects
This post may be a little late but my pup has the same problem. It's like he forgot he was housetrained. I put down towels and cardboard and if he does have an accident when I'm not home it's usually on one of those. I've started house training from the beginning, although i'm sure it's because of t...

Re: Howling, barking, and whimpering! I need sleep!
So I took Stewie to the vet to see about getting him something to calm him and she wouldn't give him anything. She said it's too soon in his pb treatment to add anything else in incase it messes with the pb effectiveness. I don't know why they couldn't have told me that over the phone! She said he's...

Thanks Vivian. I was just frustrated this morning and wasn't thinking clearly. I'm just so sad this happened to my pup. I love both my dogs soooo much! My fiance gets jealous!
I need to give him more time to adjust. I need to give everyone more time to adjust!

Re: Howling, barking, and whimpering! I need sleep!
Thank you so much. You have made me feel so much better. That's so true about having bad days too! I am afraid of not knowing when he will have a seizure. I suppose I do just need to breath and get used to things changing. I do have another dog so I need to get another dog gate to keep them seperate...

Re: Howling, barking, and whimpering! I need sleep!
Thanks for the suggestions. This is just really hard. He has an appointment with his vet tonight so hopefully they can give him something until his system gets used to the pb. It was just so hard last night. He had food and water and didn't want those. I tried to give him a treat and he didn't want ...

Howling, barking, and whimpering! I need sleep!
My 16 month old Rottie mix started having seizures four days ago. He went to the ER and got a loading does of PB. Since he's gotten home all he does is whine, bark, or howl unless he's sleeping. Has anyone heard of this? I know hyperactivity can be a side effect but what about the barking etc? I hav...
