Re: Leaving dogs at home
It may take some googling on your part, but I read an awesome article about how to properly create dog policies in the workplace. There was a committee and rules in place. It was an actual companies policies that started because of a rouge dog that was causing problems. They had a list of rules and ...

Re: Can neurotic behavior cause seizures or vice versa?
Cali would have seizures during stressful periods. Over 1/2 her seizures where while I was away traveling for business and she was with my brother's dog. I thought of it as the stress was lowering her seizure threshold thus triggering the seizures.

Re: from grand mals to focal seizures?
Yes, Jim is doing the same. Went from horrible cluster Grand Mals to these weird episodes. Monday he went blind, sat on all fours, trembled like a scared little kid and was the clingiest doggie ever, alert and responsive. Next one 10 minutes later, he started goose-stepping over to me, didn't look l...

Jim's "episodes"
Well, seems like every 20ish days Jim either has Grand Mal seizures or "episodes".
This morning he did pre-ictal pacing, then started trembling and looked blind...happened twice.
On the bright side, today, Cali is 17 months seizure free

Re: New member with questions
Just curious if the person who rear ended you had insurance. One would think that the MRI might be covered by their insurance...yes, I know it's a dog MRI, but the dog was in the car. Video taping is great...my non-epileptic dog had "tremors", didn't know what they were until the video tape got to t...

Re: Annnnd, they're back :(.
Sorry...Cali's neurologist said the KBro only needed to be given once a day as it has a very long half life, her regular vet said the same thing.
Jim's regular vet questioned that and has me giving his twice a day.

Re: New member with questions about Zonisamide
I also did holistic meds for Cali...while she on the other meds. The holistic vet prescribed Nervoheel, Neurexan, NutriCalm and some liquid that I don't remember the name of. They mixed it there and I had to keep it in the fridge. Cali took these four holistic meds while taking zonisamide, keppra an...

Re: Pexion
There can be seizures from phenobarbital withdrawal. Cali's neurologist had her taper off 25% per week. So it took 4 weeks to get her off when we put her on Potassium Bromide.

Re: New member with questions about Zonisamide
Hi, Cali's vet's first drug for her was Zonisamide. Started with 200mg 2xs/day then upped to 400, 2xs/day. Although, it didn't work for her, the vet said they are using it first line because it is working on so many of their seizure dogs and it doesn't have the liver toxicity of some of the other me...

Re: Kieran's New Journey with Epilepsy
I went to CVS and bought am/pm weekly dosing containers. One for Bandit, one for Cali and one for Jim. They are all different colors. I fill them up once a week and that way whoever is drugging/feeding, knows if the dose was given.

Re: Kieran's New Journey with Epilepsy
Give the Kbro some time...it was a Godsend for Cali. once we added it she went 7 months seizure free and added back in pheno and is currently 16 months seizure free. It did take an extra long time for her to stop being a drunk while on it. Now you wouldn't even know she is medicated. Now if I could ...
