Xylitol in anti-seizure medications (gabapentin)
This article was just posted in a Facebook group that I follow. It would be good to be aware of this if prescribed/administering it to your dogs. http://www.poisonedpets.com/gabapentin-xylitol-kills-dog-poisons-pets/?fbclid=IwAR0kkfwTKSL8RKLzeHVocqUE9_v_yonVFuRC9mwoE2oYmKhFuCKvuaeeWeE Wishing you al...

Re: Introducing Phrynie (Fry-Knee)
Dear Beth, I am very sorry to hear of this news. This disease is a nightmare and you persevered well for Phrynie. You deserve neither blame nor guilt but you should take comfort in knowing just how much you gave and cared for Phrynie in her illness and in not prolonging her suffering – making tough ...

Hi Tonysmom,
This is incredibly encouraging news. I hope you continue with such good success.
I guess even if you a do experience some breakthrough seizures, these increased durations of respite will be heartening.
Wishing you well.
Trevor.

Re: Introducing Phrynie (Fry-Knee)
Hi Beth, Spencer was an English Springer Spaniel. At 4 years old he had his first (witnessed/known) fit. And so began our journey through this disease for a further seven years. After his second fit we commenced pheno and upped & upped the doses. We trialed Zonisamide (this worked for a while but it...

Re: New to CEN
Hi Tony’s mom, Welcome to this forum – and I commend you on your perseverance with two very needy dogs. Spencer first fitted at 4 years old but only a few months later commenced treatment. (We never had the opportunity to consider CBD products in our care). We had Spencer and his mother together and...

Re: Introducing Phrynie (Fry-Knee)
Hi Beth, Welcome to the forum although I am sorry you need to be here. This is a heart breaking disease (frustrating, infuriating, grievous and more). I’m not sure where you are at with your options, and in your story you say you commenced potassium first up and (as I read it) then considered potass...

Re: belgiam Malinios having seizure every 15 days
Hi Belgiam Malinios, I’m sorry that you need to join this forum, but welcome. One of the hardest things I find with this disease is the lack of solid answers. This disease is silent, strong willed and it reveals itself quite differently for each epi-dog. Another frustrating issue is that money canno...

Hi Jeff, Sorry you have to be here. I hope you can get some good help and reassurance from this amazing group of people. This is a lovely photo of you with Fand & Li Ban – a gorgeous pair of dogs. Your story echoes our story: Spencer first fitted the evening we arrived home from a camping holiday; w...

Re: Life after epilepsy
Hi Chris, It is wonderful to hear from you. It is great to hear from ALL of you again. Dear Chris, I’m sorry to hear that ‘doing it hard’ was relentless upon you, but it shows your resilience and toughness of character. I truly hope you can catch a break and recoup that lost joy in life. And I’m sor...

Re: 3 months seizure free!!!
Hello Karen, This is great news! Any run of seizure free time is exciting and encouraging. Nearly two years of hard work, juggling medicines, so hopefully you are reaching a good point in Cooper's welfare. Jinxing... enjoy your good run. There is no jinx with this disease - it just sucks! When I got...

Life after epilepsy
It is a year now since Spencer died. He was the last of our four pets to leave us (all of them within a year) so this last 12 months has been a quiet pet-free recovery for us. Many years ago my plan was to buy Spencer’s mum after she had weaned her pups. During our visits Spencer made himself known ...

Re: Speckles 2007-09-28 to 2018-05-30
Dear Joe & Kathy, I am sorry to hear of the death of Speckles. You have fought long and hard to keep Speckles well in this disease. Sadly, death is inevitable and no-one can prevent it but the love and care you gave Speckles to the end is abundantly clear – a great picture of what amazing people you...
