Re: Zonisamide and feeding -- Need ideas

Ya I would say its the Zonisamide from experience, we gave him 200mg of Zonisamide as a first medication worked wonders, but only complaint was that he lost his appetite. We consulted the vet and switched medication to Keppra that was about 6 months ago. Personally I think the keppra isn't doing any...

Re: Keppra is losing effectivness

Just spoke to my vet, he told me not to change anything because we just added the Zonisamide last week and it takes 5 days to kick in. If it was me I would of kick him up in the Zonisamide. Cause I strongly believe the Keppra is not doing anything anymore. Honestly they never talked to me about the ...

Keppra is losing effectivness

This is getting a bit out of hand now. Hes been on Keppra for about a couple months now, and we have been told to increase due to him having 1 seizure every 1.5-2 weeks. Hes now on 1250 mg 3x a day, and we were told to add 150 mg 2x a day of Zonisamide which we added last week. Yesterday he had 2 se...

Re: It's his thyroid!

Just came about this thread. This is very interesting, and my next visit to the vet I'm gonna ask to have Shadow's thyroid checked. Also the fish oil capsule is also interesting, I do research from time to time on different types of vitamins to take since I'm always at the gym and very curious to se...

Re: Medication questions

When Kiya had her first seizure I ran to the ER and was told to follow up with my regular vet. Two days later Kiya clustered, I believe I would have lost her if my regular vet was not experienced with seizures. They had given her a loading dosage of pb to stop the seizures, it took all day. At that...

Re: Medication questions

I am out on Eastern LI. Is Plainview where your regular vet is? I am not a fan of ER clinics, they have a tendency to beat you over the head with dollar signs. I would go to your regular vet and discuss meds and treatment with them. Costco usually has the best price for meds if you are going to con...

Re: Medication questions

Sorry to hear about your dog. I don't know where your located but Phenobarbitol (pb) & Potassium Bromide (kbr) are very inexpensive drugs and usually the first choice for medication. Like most drugs they have risks associated with them that is why routine blood test are required the more expensive ...

Medication questions

This may be long, I have a 3 year old Siberian Husky. He first started having seizures when he was 16 months (Aug 2010). He had about 10 seizures that first day lasting about a minute long. Took him to the animal hospital kept him there for the night and the vet gave me Zonisamide 100mg (give 2 caps...
