Anyone not do an MRI and still have vet treat as tumor?
So after the hardest week of mine and Choppers lives the vet is 100% convinced it's a brain tumor. We cannot afford an MRI (and after research I'm not sure it would even be worth it). Chopper is deteriorating FAST. Starting having spaced out seizures in 9/2011 and since June 2012 even with medicaito...

Re: Help if anyone is on now. please Focal lasting almost 20
I do live near a vet so that woudln't be an issue. The one I live by grossly overcharges. While at the neurologist on Wednesday she said anyting over 5 mins that was a 'GM' seizure was and emergency. This was like a continuous focal/facial seiz. He would respond to his name. He could drink water but...

Help if anyone is on now. please Focal lasting almost 20 min
Chopper is in a focal facial twitching, uncontrolable drooling fit that has been almost 20 mins, he pops out of it for like 3 seconds then goes back in. He can walk although wobbly. But it still won't stop. I gave rectal valium 1ml. He is 28 lbs. Is the an emergency. Our neuro said only if its a gra...

Re: Keppra level testing
I never thought of this. I live very close so I don't know why I couldn't do that. She also was hesitant on doing the Zonisimide test (also $250) but I may opt out of that. She seemed as if she was going to try to wean him off of that or at least lower the dose because that was the first thing he wa...

Re: Keppra level testing
Hi there. I just had a consultation today and they want to do a Keppra test in 3 weeks. They quoted $250 just for the test and it would be sent to Auburn. This didn't include all of the hospital stay, etc that they would charge for Peak/Trough.

Hi there, I'm new and I went to the neurologist today...
Hi everyone. I am new. I posted my saga in the 'intro section' of the forum if you want to know more about my Boston Terrier, Chopper and his seizures, etc. So today I took him to the neurologist as advised by my regular vet. Chop still was acting odd as they had him on an IV of phenobarb for about ...

Trevor- Thank you for the explanation of the IV pheno loading. I did not think that the reaction would be this severe and it makes me feel better that it's 'normal' if there is such a thing. So now it's been past 24 hours since I picked him up and he is still the same. Running around, sniffing and a...

I forgot to add that after the first seizure in 9/11 we had a full blood panel/thyroid etc done. All levels per the vet were 'perfect'.

Hi, I'm new with a 7y Boston Terrier with clusters, advice?
I'm sure a lot of these stories are the same. First of all this started in September of 2011. Seizures came out of nowhwere. No other health issues. He started having 1 about once a month (grand mal that would be about 3-5 mins). In February he was put on Zonisimide 50mg 2x a day. He started having ...
