Re: The end.
Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts. They do make a difference and I find these responses comforting.
The support on this forum is wonderful and non-judgmental.
I wish you all the best with your epi-pups. May the seizures be few and far between.

The end.
Very sadly we had to say good bye to Saxon on Sunday afternoon. I am posting here because we did have his seizures mostly under control and he did have a reasonable quality of life up until the end. His epilepsy story was a success - even if it wasn't cured or eliminated. The sad bit: He had mild/ab...

Re: Absent Seizures?
Hi Lynne, Thanks for your response. You are right, we keep a very close eye on our pups and then when things are suspect, an even closer eye! Not paranoid much. :D I am thinking I need to get his meds reviewed as well, as these episodes are slowly becoming more pronounced/extended and I prefer to tr...

Absent Seizures?
Since going on Zonisamide a couple of years ago, Saxon's clusters have reduced to single episodes and the post-ictal has been much improved. Which has been great for all us. Last night he had a barely there seizure, quick post-ictal, (gave cluster preventing meds) and he was resting in bed within 10...

Hi Wendy, Welcome to the forum, although I am sorry that you have to add the worry of possible epilepsy to Elliot's list of health concerns. When I have asked my vet about thyroid tests, he hasn't been dismissive exactly, and we did have the basic test, but he does take other indicators into account...

Re: Speckles is doing well
Hi Joe, Glad to hear that Speckles is doing well. We were in a similar situation last year, where my beagle, who is now well controlled with his seizures (touch wood) really needed his teeth done, including an extraction or three. My vet, was very encouraging saying that the anesthetic that he would...

Re: Annnnd, they're back :(.
Hi Lisa, So sorry that you are going through this. To not be there, know that they are occurring and for your parents to have to deal with Bailey's post-ictal behavior is a tough one to swallow. As for Zonisamide, (touch wood) we are one of the more successful ones who have tried it. Saxon was into ...

Hi Esmo,
So sorry to hear of your loss. It is a very hard thing to deal with. You did all that you could and I am sure that Maggie is happy now with no more seizures.
My thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It was a very painful decision that you made, but I am sure Lola is happy now without those seizures and all the side effects from the meds. I hope time helps you remember the good times. My thoughts are with you.

Re: When is enough enough??
You are going through a really rough time right now. My heart goes out to you. I also don't know what Epilease is, however I do know there are a number of anti-seizure meds out there and different ones or combinations of them are required for different dogs. Phenobaritone and Potassium Bromide have ...
