Re: Hi there, I'm new and I went to the neurologist today...
I would also like to add that the reason we have ultimately decided to do this testing..other than the frequency of Smudge's seizures...is that she is exhibiting some other strange behaviors. That coupled with the fact that she is also having strange things going on with her skin and allergy like sy...

Re: Hi there, I'm new and I went to the neurologist today...
Hi Lacey, Not sure if this helps, but I am in a similar situation as far as testing goes. My Bulldog, Smudge has been on meds for about a year. She was doing fairly well and then suddenly started having more seizures closer together. About every two weeks. My vets have suggested that I get a CT scan...

Re: 4 Month old Cocker Spaniel having cluster seizures
I hope that the Keppra works for your Zoey. I am also in the process of getting Smudge off of Pheno. So glad your other dog is doing well. I know how frustrating this can be. Not knowing why it is happening and trying desperately to find a cause and coming up empty. I hope maybe you can find what is...

Re: 4 Month old Cocker Spaniel having cluster seizures
Oh..just saw your new post. We must have posted at the same time. So glad they are switching her to Keppra. I hope that she gets some relief from her seizures with it. We have just started Zonisamide. Great luck and well wishes.

Re: 4 Month old Cocker Spaniel having cluster seizures
I am surprised that they gave her Phenobarbital with increased liver values. Maybe they could try another medication. I would be very worried about that. Did they give you a prescription for valium? I have to give my dog, Smudge Valium for a full 24 hours after the first seizure to stop the clusters...

Re: Is there a Link Between Canine Epilepsy and Sinus Issues
I have also read that benedryl can reduce the effectiveness of some of the seizure meds, especially PB. Smudge is also still having the same types of sinus issues as your Daisy. VERY loud snoring and breathing the night before an episode. I know the sinus issues are not the cause of her epilepsy, bu...

Re: Is there a Link Between Canine Epilepsy and Sinus Issues
I did not get much new information. My vet did do some research, but said that he did not find anything significant. He said that she is definitely presenting some strange behavior, but could not really tell why. Today, she scratched the left side of her face raw again. He did say that the only way ...

Re: Is there a Link Between Canine Epilepsy and Sinus Issues
I am beginning to wonder the same thing. My dog, Smudge, has been having lots of issues with congestion right before she has seizures. In keeping my diary on her, I have noticed that the day or night before an episode, that she is very congested. Also she has been having a lot of clear nasal dischar...

Re: Storage of KBr liquid
Thanks for the reply Carolyn. I had Smudge's levels checked and they were down from what they should have been. I may just store mine in the fridge for good measure. Also writing the date of when I open the bottle on the label.

Storage of KBr liquid
I am new here and have a question about Potassium Bromide. I use the liquid for my dog, Smudge. She gets it once a day in a small snack. I began to notice the bottle was a little crusty around the top. I had a special top that the vet gave me to use. It is fashioned so that the syringe would fit on ...

New here Jill and Smudge the bulldog.
Hi, My name is Jill and I have a bulldog named Smudge that has epilepsy. Smudge is almost 2 years old and had her first seizure when she was around 11 months. We have her on Phenobarbital and KBr. She has cluster seizures and usually has them about once a month. We treat the clusters with diazepam/V...
