Re: Rough night with Eley
So sorry, it's frightening when clusters happen, one is scary enough. We just went through this with our Bronson a couple weeks ago, having Valium to administer rectally does help slow or stop further seizures for a while. I can't even administer the doses, my husband has to, my hands shake so badly...

Re: New to this ...... looking for support
I'm sorry you have to be here, Mark, but it is a place full of caring people who are also dealing with this terrible disease. I found this site a couple months ago and I am ever grateful that I did! May I ask, what flea/tick medication did you use on your pup? We believe the one we used last year al...

Re: How Has an Epi Dog Changed Your Life
Reading all of these posts I relate to each and every one as if I had written them myself. Bronson is a rescue that we have had foe four years, his seizures didn't start till Oct. last year and I still remember it clearly...so frightening. Each time is scary, but, I, too have researched and learned ...

Re: Zonisamide
@ Crazy Dog Lover I saw in your earlier post what you pay for your Keppra XR. FYI- we get ours at Costco and buy a 3-moths supply (4 pills/day) for around $250. It's cheaper to buy in bulk. As far as Zonisamide, I'm going to try and start Innis on it. After 4 weeks since his last episodes (4 cluste...

Re: How Has an Epi Dog Changed Your Life
I've been reading these posts and the one where everyone chimed in on letting their epi pups sleep with them (by the way who are the they that say we shouldn't. They're our kids and you make room for them!) and I realize more than ever what an amazing group we have here. For better and worse we're ...

MK's mom wrote:I'm happy to hear that Maggie is starting to return to normal. As for the bed; I have two Irish Setters, one has to sleep so close to me one couldn't put a hair between us. My home is their home, it's always been that way.
Exactly!!

Re: How Has an Epi Dog Changed Your Life
We didn't know that Maggie had epilepsy when we first adopted her in December. Since then we have been through four bouts of cluster seizures - three of them ending up with Maggie at the Emergency Vet Clinic overnight. She has seen a neurologist and is now on Pheno and Zoltimide (sorry - can't spel...

Re: Zonisamide
We are continuing to see Maggie's behavior mitigate. Last night she played a little bit with her rope toy, first time since the last bout of seizures and was calm enough that she could take her usual spot on our bed. (I know - you really aren't supposed to let them, but we do). My husband is retire...

Re: Zonisamide
Esmo, so glad to hear your Maggie had a fairly good day/night, here's to continued improvement! Bronson seems to have less and less side effects daily so I am hoping for the same for your Maggie. It's so difficult, so distressing. I'd take that cure as well before any amount of money! No question ab...

I just bought a bag of Primal for my Bronson, haven't given him any yet, want to check with the vet first but I read tons of reviews which are all positive:

Re: Zonisamide
I am new to this forum and new to having an epi dog. We adopted Maggie from a rescue group in December. They thought she was about 2 years old. She had her first set of seizures on New Years Eve - 5 in total before they were able to get them stopped. Since then she has had 4 sets of seizures - each...

Re: Zonisamide
I am getting some Velveeta tomorrow. Bronson is still very unstable, very sluggish, wobbly and trembling a lot...it's sad...:( I know this med is to help him but it hurts me to see my happy lively boy like this, praying these side affects end. He seems to pep up some when I take him outside...Thanks...

Re: Zonisamide
Thanks so much for the tips, Bronson seems to have dry mouth or something, he keeps sticking his tongue out since I started the med..he is still unstable on his feet and shaking at times, but, hoping he will adjust!
