Re: Utterly devastated

Thank you all for your replies. I sincerely hope you all have better luck fighting this horrible disease than we did. We spoke to the vet yesterday, and they believe that she may have had a grand mal during the day whilst we were out and possibly another early in the morning before we woke and sadly...

Utterly devastated

It's is with utter devastation that I share this news... At 3.30 pm today we lost our little Jaffa Doddlebug, one of the most sweetest, cheekiest and loving dogs I have ever had the privilege of being a part of my life. She started to go downhill rapidly today, and after taking her to the vet, we ha...

Re: Toy poodle age 5 had first seizure in January 2016

Hey, I'm sorry you're going through this. My little Maltese/Shih tzu who has recently turned 6, was diagnosed a few months ago with epilepsy. She had her first seizure when she was around 4, but they we're really mild and originally we were told she was having an allergic reaction to a flea product....

Re: New, so anxious! DOG HAS HAD TWO 3-4 hr seizures!!!!

Hi, just relating to a question you asked on another post... Cluster Seizures generally occur when a dog has more that one seizure in a 24 hour period or when seizures are so close together that a dog doesn't have enough time from the end of a seizure to the start of the next seizure to recover full...

Re: Bad few weeks...

So far so good. Jaffa was experiencing a lot of side effects from the new meds, but have lowered them due to the effect they were having her, they have now tapered off and are minimal, my girl can stand to drink again and doesn't fall in the bowl. YAY! She's still as clingy as ever but that is reall...

Re: aggressive??

HI Brittney, You're not alone in all this. My little Maltese/Shih Tzu never clustered and only ever once had a grand mal, she usually has partial seizures, last week that changed, we woke up to her clustering, going from partials, into grand mals, back to partial and into grandmals again, this kept ...

Re: new to this and confused about post-ictal behavior

Firstly my advice would be to call your vet and let them know your concerns, at her age (might I say wow, 17 is amazing), her seizures and behaviour could be related to many things, and your vet would be the best option for advice. Now I'll let you know my experiences with my little girl and seizure...

Bad few weeks...

So it's been a bad few weeks for my sweet girl. She was going fine 2.5 months seizure free, we were thrilled, we hoped it would stay that way. New Years Eve and New Years Day, she had a seizure both days, very mild and not as severe as she's had in the past, I just stayed with her, gave her cuddles ...

Re: New to this

Hi and welcome. My girl was diagnosed about 3 months with partial seizures, however had her first one around 18 months ago. It took us a while and a new vet to get a diagnosis. However our new vet was reluctant about diagnosing animals they have only seen once with epilepsy, although after explainin...

Three weeks after Starting Pheno

I am so pleased to say my liitle girl is slowly inproving. Re: ataxia

Hey my little Maltese/Shih Tzu was recently diagnosed and placed on Pheno, The first few day or two she slept a lot and I had to syringe feed her water to keep her fluids up the only time she would really move was when she needed to pee, and when she did walk it was heart wrenching to watch, falling...

Re: First Seizure Advice [Serious Now!]

Firstly I just wanted to say how truly sorry I am to hear about your fur baby. One thing that concerned me was you mentioned internal bleeding, is there any way he could've gotten into anything poisonous, plants, rat bait, etc? Seizures can also be caused by toxins, it was something our vet asked wi...
