Re: Can Dogs Eat Peas?

Yes, dogs can eat peas and it's in a lot of commercial dog food and treats, however, it's one of Ursa's seizure triggers (we're convinced she's allergic to peas) so we stopped feeding her anything pea. Our girls are RAW/homemade fed and love all kinds of safe fruits and veggies - in moderation. Tomo...

Gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA)

Does anyone give their dog GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid), if so, what's your thoughts on it? Ursa's vet suggested I look into GABA as a possible supplement to add to Ursa's other supps. Ursa is doing really well on Keppra-med and Bufo Rana homeopathy. She had 1 focal seizure in a 4 week period, ins...

Homeopathics, anyone use them?

Anyone use homeopathics to treat seizures? Our holistic vet had us try several homeopathies with Ursa and the latest one, Bufo Rana is working great! - knock wood! We haven't had any focal seizures in the early morning hours in weeks and we're super happy about that!

How many of your epileptic fur-family dogs...

...have seizures or focal seizures ONLY during the night and/or early morning?

We notice a pattern with Ursa in the early morning hours when there's a disturbance in her brain as she's waking up that brings on focal seizures.

Is itching a part of epilepsy?

Hi again, We've done so many eliminations with Ursa's diet, treats and supplements that I can't keep track any more. We think we're on the right track and BAM, we're wrong again :? Ursa has been having focal seizures almost every early morning for weeks now. She's on Keppra and homeopathies from her...

Connection with Monkshood plant and seizures...

Does anyone have a connection with the Monkshood plant's poison and seizures? http://www.thepoisongarden.co.uk/atoz/aconitum_napellus.htm Ursa got into the plant when she was about 8 months old and started seizing at the end of this past August (2016), her holistic vet wonders, of after all these ye...

Introducing Ursa

Hi, I want to introduce Ursa, she's almost 6 yo (next month) and is a Labrador Retriever. Ursa came to us as a healthy puppy from a reputable breeder, we took her to training classes and then to the obedience rings. She earned her RN (hence Urs-the-nurse), RA, CGN and TD titles. Ursa has been diagno...
