Re: Life after epilepsy

Hi Chris, I'm so glad you posted. I've thought about you many times since you lost Molly, and I'm glad to hear you're doing better. I said many times while our Jake fought this disease that it's so easy to put the trauma you go through watching them seize on the back burner because you have to, but ...

Re: Hello from Jeff, Fand, and Li Ban

Hi Jeff, First I have to say you have two very beautiful girls. MK's Mom, a member here, who is also passionate about her Irish Setters has been through the mill and back with epilepsy so you may want to read up on her journey. She's had two so far that have been diagnosed and I don't know anyone el...

Re: generic Keppra XR giving senior dog diarrhea

I'm so sorry for your loss. This disease is relentless. One of the first things you do is second guess what you did, but in your heart you know you did everything humanly possible. Seizures are unpredictable and come on without warning and you're stuck between trying to hopefully get and keep them u...

Hi Orli, I'm so glad you posted. I've thought of you many times and wondered how you are. I remember you and Pereg and how hard you fought for her. I do hope you know you did everything you could for her. I do share the pain of losing such a special dog. We also have adopted another dog who needed u...

Happy Holidays

To everyone here I want wish you a seizure free holiday. The holidays, maybe because of the excitement, seemed to be challenging for our Jake. I sincerely hope and pray there is a breakthrough in finding a cure in 2019. Here's to our brave pups, past and present, for their strength and determination...

Re: CBD Capsules

Is it possible to set up a crate with soft bedding, or a small room to use to keep him in during the day with pillows and soft bedding to keep him safe during a seizure? It's so hard to leave them. You worry constantly. Maybe you could set up a cam and have a neighbor/friend that lives close by get ...

Re: New to seizures w/ 7 year old labradoodle

I'm sorry you and Sadie are going through all of this. Don't get me started on how low some breeders will go when it comes to canine epilepsy, but I'm glad she found you. Jake's breeder denied seizure issues for years and we later found out there were several other Aussie's from them that had it. So...

Re: Keppra Generic Brands

I'm so glad to hear Ziggy is doing much better. We found ourselves in the same position you're in and had to switch brands. It was scary because we had no idea if it would work as well. We used Lupin Pharmaceuticals brand for the last several years and it worked as well. I hope Ziggy continues to im...

Re: Anybody have luck w Purely Pets?

Hi Nicole, I noticed you're from NC. So am I. I contacted our vet and she said she'd be more than happy to help you if she can either by email or phone. If you're interested you can send a message and I'll forward her information. I have heard of some dogs having digestive issues associated with sei...

Hi back! I'm glad you found us and it's helping you through all of this. The people here were such a comfort, source of encouragement, support, and you name it, for over 11 years for me. I am sorry you're having to take on this horrible disease, especially while you're making you way through college...

Re: New to seizures - not even sure if it's epilepsy

I'm so sorry for your loss. Whether it's epilepsy or a brain tumor watching our fur babies go through them is heartbreaking.
In the end you were his mom and did what was right for him.
My thoughts are with you.

Re: Dosage of keppra and keppra XR

I have never heard of changing dosage for climate, but I'm not a vet so it may be a good idea to just play it by ear. You can never second guess seizures, but since you've found control I would personally just observe and not mess with it. We moved from a cold climate to a warmer one and Jake actual...

Re: New to CEN with a story...

Hi Suzanne, I'm sorry you and Maggie are going through this. It really is a maze to get through trying to find something that helps. Jake was refractory and mostly seized during sleep and early am hours, but there was a period of 1.5 years where he seized only between 9-11 am. Seizures can be so unp...

Re: JRT new to seizures! Help!

I'm sorry to hear Wally is having seizures after being healthy for so long. They're our babies whether they're one or 12 aren't they? It's true the older they are when they're diagnosed the higher the possibility that a tumor may be involved. I know of a 9 year old Cocker Spaniel that lived for over...
