Heatgard

If you read the insert in the Heartgard box, one of the side-effects is seizures. We put Trucker on Intercepter too.

I am sorry no one got back to you about this behavior. I am not a professional, but I would tend to think that this was some kind of seizure. I have seen this behavior in the practice I am in, and yes they put the dog down. It was very sad. For what it is worth, I think you did the right thing. I am...

The other Dr. that I work with said it could be a "silent" seizure. Trucker had a real bad New Year's and the licking started after that. He has slowed down since then. I have only seen him do it once since then.

Silent Seizure

I just talked to my Dr. yesterday and she did say that Trucker may have had a silent seizure. I also read about it in VIN.

Licking

One of the Drs. I work with said that the licking could be a mild seizure! He has slowed down this week, so I am wondering if this could be true?

Licking

My vet was just guessing. There was a boxer that had to have knee repair and it did not heal well. They have to go to a specialist to have it repaired again. Anyway, the boxer started doing the same thing, licking that is. I don't know if it is related or not. Just a thought. And yes I am going to d...

Trucker could not handle KBr either. He was weak in the back end. Took him off immediately.

Keppra

We tried Keppra on Trucker. He could not handle it. It made him very lethargic, I mean to the point of falling over. It also cost me $300.00 for a months supply. Unfortunately, I could not return the unused medicine.
I hope you have better luck!

Trucker was 2 yrs old when he first seizured. I just talked to my vet and she said the eye bulging and dialated pupils could be that there is a tumor and that it could be moving. Bummer. He also started licking this week, like someone gave him a tablespoon of peanut butter. She said that could be a ...

MRI

Trucker is a German Shepherd mix. He is almost 5 yrs. old. We adopted him from the Humane Society when he was about 4 months old. He started seizuring Sept of 2005. The odd thing is that he was abused, big time! They would not give us specific details, but we do know that a neighbor rescued him and ...
