Re: Nellie and Tanner

mandyleigh- I feel your pain! At the time my boy Toby started having seizures I had had a total of 3 dogs in my life. Out of the 3, every single one of them ended up diagnosed as epileptic. We were never able to find any connection, though. None of the dogs were biologically related, all mixed breed...

They are more likely to occur on the weekend? Is your schedule different on the weekend compared to the week? Maybe it has at least in some part to do with the pheno dosing times on the weekend versus the week? It is crazy how much if fluctuates in their system so it has to be given the same time ev...

1310betsy- Have you had your pup's levels checked? Is he even in the therapuetic range for the meds? Are you very very precise with the timing of the pheno? It has a very short half-life in dogs and you need to keep it constant in their systems every 12 hours. Timing is vital for pheno. Are they mor...

I don't know anything yet, but I wanted to give a quick update on what has been happening so far. The radon tests have been sent in, waiting on the results. 2nd round of water testing in the works. Toby goes in for a blood draw to be tested for lead on Friday afternoon. I am kind of nervous about th...

The one pattern I did notice with Toby and the 17th was in November, it was about 2 weeks after the daylight savings time change. In March, it was about a week and a half after the daylight saving time change. Both times I gradually (over the course of a week) switched the med time back to 8 so it w...

I guess you can say the meds have contolled the seizures- but my idea of control is no seizures and that didn't happen for Chester and so far not for Murfy or Toby. Chester and Toby's seizures are comparable in severity- quite ugly. Murfy has never had a grand mal since being on the Bromide and aver...

With Chester, there could have been multiple things to check. I admit at the time he was with us, I was fairly clueless about epilepsy... dogs in general, but nothing significant stands out. Murfy and Toby are both on California Natural, we use only stainless steel dishes for water and food. The foo...

This is an old thread- but an interesting one. All 3 of the dogs I have had (all in the same house) ended up with a diagnosis of epilepsy. Murfy and Toby are still with me and the more I think about it, the less convinced I become of the diagnosis. What are the odds of having 3 mixed breed dogs who ...

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary pl...

Marie, Jane is well aware that we all need to vent, her words were just trying to boost you up and try to keep your emotions from 'traveling down the leash' as it were. Jane lost her pup to epilepsy and is afraid the boy she has now will start seizing, too, so she's WELL aware and can empathize wit...

Ok Chris and Marie - you need to calm down not only for your pups sake but for your own mental state. This monster scares the hegeebees out of all of us but being under so much stress is not helping anyone - particularly your dogs. If necessary get some rapid relief and use it on you and your pup a...

Seizures suck plain and simple. I think the worst part is the fear and the anticipation. As much as you are not supposed to anticipate it, it is very hard not to. It would make life easier if you just knew what days it was going to occur... There is nothing that makes my heart pound like the thumpin...

I too thought it was pretty coincedental that this has happened after starting the new bottle... I try to be very consistent with the dogs to keep track of things and this is the only thing that changed. Even if it had absolutely nothing to do with it, I would still feel better having the other pill...
