Hello; I have been dealing with my dog's epilepsy for 5 years now and have been through all the ups and downs and I share your concerns. Have you investigated the role of glutemate from grains in the diet with epilepsy? My dog is on a strict potato and duck diet and doing well, she also has seasonal...

I don't know if you still have your Frenchie, but I wanted to offer a possible solution. I have a 5 year old Frenchie who has been through 4 and a half years of epilepsy and the various complications, she has been seizure free for 8 months and is on her lowest dose of kBr and PB ever. I switched her...

food allergies

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I have been dealing with my dog's epilepsy for 4 years and I really believe that many dogs need to avoid grains and dairy products in their food and treats. There is a good site where you can read about this www.dogtorj.com My dog is doing better than she has ever done ...

heartache

Sorry to hear of your epileptic nightmare. You didn't mention whether you were using Kbr (potassium bromide) as well as the Pb. My Frenchie is on both and I am now really looking at the dietary aspects as well. She has had pancreatitis and liver problems in the past and although there is no conclusi...

thanks

I checked out the site and found it very illuminating, my dog's new diet has no soy, wheat, corn or dairy but it does have oats, barley and rye so I will see how she goes with it, her AEDs are as low a dose as they have been in a long time so time will tell. It would be nice if Vets and human doctor...

Lily's heart

Hi , I wanted to let everyone know that my Frenchie is on the mend, it appears that her electrolytes were so out of whack and her bromism so acute that it put her into congestive heart failure. She is home now and recovering after her near death experience. She is on heart medication and diuretics a...

thanks for your empathy. I'm struggling with what to do about my little girl. Because we had to go without her Pb for a day and only slowly add it back, she seized and I don't know whether to put her through all this discomfort. Are there any other owner's out there who have epileptic dogs who have ...

heart disease and epilepsy

Hi everyone , this is my second post and I'm afraid it's not a very happy one. Has anyone had their dog get congestive heart failure as a result of the prolonged use of Kbr and PB and siezure strain on the heart? My girl is in the hospital and I could use some positive stories. Thanks
