Re: New Diagnosis, Urinary Incontinence, 13 yr old dog

Cali (4) will loose bladder control for a few days after her seizures. I seem to just buy new dog beds at Costco. The phenobarbital does make them drink a lot. In fact, last week, she drank a ton of water before bed, I had to stop her it was that much. I took her out at midnight to pee as she was st...

Foster Dog Jim, at it again

He just spent 2 nites in the ER with cluster seizures again. One of them he had right outside the vet's office. I pounded on the windows, the other doggie owners got the front desk who got the vet techs and the vet to run out. Watching the vet being so calm getting the needle in his front vein while...

Re: Siberian Husky Epilepsy days after effect, REALLY NEED H

Sarah Dawn,
Have you checked into Keppra Extended Release? It is given twice a day. It can't be broken in half or anything, so it will depend upon the size of your dog if they have the milligram strength you need.

Re: Help requested

Welcome and sorry you have to be here with us. The length of time between seizures depends on the dogs response to the medication. For Example, Cali would have 4-5 cluster seizures every 2 weeks and was on 3 different medicines. The vet suggested adding another and removing the other 3 and she went ...

Sorry about that...Cali clustered after her 7 month streak seizure free...only had one, thought she was in the clear, then two days later BAM, had 10.

Here's some info on Pexion...don't think it is available in the US, which is why many of us don't know about it.

Re: Jay Our German Sheperd

That's a hard one...might want to just call the vet and ask. They absorb meds much faster than we do.

Cali One Year Seizure Free Today

:D :D :D
Well it has been one year since Cali's last set of seizures and I couldn't be happier. Now if we could only get Foster Dog Jim to follow in her footsteps ;)

Thanks for all the support over the past 3 years. We greatly appreciate it.

Re: Administering Meds

Sorry, I have a lab so all I have to do is put them on top of her breakfast and dinner and they are gone in 15 seconds. For my other dog Bandit I would make pill meatballs. open a can of wet dog food (nutro is a good consistency) grab a spoon, insert pill and hand to dog. It the drug was smelly anti...
