Re: New to seizures - not even sure if it's epilepsy

Oh I know the feeling of guilt. Your dog has many of the symptoms that my dog has. ASPIRIN would trigger his seizures, he'd have one about every 2 weeks! We took him completely off the aspirin, now its every 10 weeks. There is no doubt the aspirin triggers it, so I am even careful about household cl...

Re: New to seizures - not even sure if it's epilepsy

Wow I am so sorry for you and your dog. Is it possible he hurt his leg during the last seizure? We have to pull our dog out from under the bed or whatever so he doesn't break his leg while paddling. Your baby sounds pitiful. Four-nine years old? Surely somebody can be more specific? I personally wou...

Re: Dosage of keppra and keppra XR

Wow that is a lot of drugs. Our 14 year old is on NO drugs. His come about every 10 weeks, they are awful. We haven't even asked about the meds as we prefer not to do that, and I don't know if they even would prescribe anything. I hate the "lets try this" and then the "lets try this". I can't do tha...

Re: New to CEN with a story...

Suzanne, our dog is sound asleep when he has his seizures. We don't even think he's beginning to wake up. He's had grand-mal seizures since 2013 (that we know of). To make a long story short, we figured out that aspirin triggers them, so we completely stopped that - seizures went from every 2 weeks ...

Re: 3 months seizure free!!!

Funny you would mention "trigger". We had our dog on aspirin everyday for arthritis. He's have a seizure every 2 weeks. We took him completely off of the aspirin and now he goes about 10 weeks. We've tried everything we can think of. No drugs though. Now we're trying CBD oil and waiting to see how t...

Re: Golden retriever puppy with epilepsy- I have questions

A little baby having to go through that. It just doesn't make sense to me, but my 14 year old dog having them for the last 5 years doesn't make sense to me either. Something is up with that little brain of Bruno's. I hope it works itself out so he's not on medication his whole life.

Re: Golden retriever puppy with epilepsy- I have questions

Wow that is sad that a little puppy is going thru that already. Already on meds for seizures at 8 weeks old. I sure hate that for you and your little one. Maybe once the Trifexis is out of his system they will stop? I feel for you.

Re: hemp oil or CBD oil for seizures

We have our german shepherd mix on Pet Releaf Hemp capsules. His last seizures, which was less than a week ago and he had 2 in one day, were just as violent. They were 5 hours apart, and both were intense. That was huge disappointment. BUT once he was on his feet, he was not as drunk, not falling ov...

Re: hemp oil or CBD oil for seizures

Monicad2018 So you do give your dog the CBD capsules from Holisapet? I looked at that last night after I read your post. How big is your dog? Do you only give him one capsule a day?

Re: Seizures more Intense

Monica our dog is on no drugs - seizures are about every 10 weeks. Just recently has he started having 2 in one day. I will definitely check out Holisapet (sorry if I spelled that wrong). Do you use the CBD or the hemp capsules? A pharmacist told me hemp is CBD. A 30 day supply of these capsules is ...

Re: Seizures more Intense

My vet will not talk to me about it. We are giving him 1 capsule a day which is what the bottle says for his weight. It is HEMP oil, and a pharmacist told me hemp is the same as CBD oil. Got it from Pet ReLeaf. It's really expensive. I have seen where it just doesn't help some dogs, and for us, this...

Re: Life after epilepsy

We are the same way. Every time our Jack is just getting comfy we are watching him like a hawk. Every bump in the night we're listening. A good nights sleep doesn't come very often. This dog is our life - we never leave overnight, we don't take vacations. We have other pets too, so we prefer to be h...

Re: Seizures more Intense

UPDATE: We have used the hemp oil capsules for about 6 weeks. Jack went 10 weeks between seizures which is about normal. This past Sunday, he had 2 grand mals, 5 hours apart. Both were intense with the hard paddling, excessive drooling and acting like he was eating the carpet. They lasted just as lo...

Re: Seizures more Intense

I never want to be without that kind of love in my life. I could not imagine that either. We've taken in many strays, adopted many from shelters. But these seizures? I cannot take it. Watching them go thru that is gut wrenching. Yes Jack being 14 I would say we've done pretty good taking care of him...

Re: Seizures more Intense

Same here! We bought this CBD as the seizures get so intense, such hard paddling, acting like he's eating the carpet. From the time he collapses, to the time he is on his feet is 6 minutes. He is 14, so once he is on his feet he just falls back down. The CBD is a last resort in hopes they will be sh...
