Hi Puggles! I'm glad you found us. Sorry to hear that you also have an epi. But this is a great board with lots of great people. I am pretty new here with a rottie girl named Ada. She has clusters all in an episode of 1 to 2 1/2 hours. She too is on PB and Kbr, but aren't regulated yet. We're hoping...

Aww, thank you all SO much! I will give it time as I do know KBr takes time to kick in. Not to mention the other things we're trying. I'm glad my new vet will speak up and say he'd wait a bit longer if that's what he really thinks I should do. After all, that's why we're having him treat her. He's a...

I've got Rescue Remedy which really doesn't seem to help her much and for the most part, I'm okay during the seizure as I'm getting used to it. It's just I feel so bad for her being medicated all the time (dopey, falling down, incontinent). The rectal valium did help the one time I had enough of it....

I'm having such a hard time with Ada and her seizures. I'm here at work crying my eyes out as I'm the one that has to make the decision as to whether or not we put her to sleep. Her seizures are getting longer (episodes are now 2 1/2 hours from 1 1/2) and hardly take any activity to set them off. Sh...

Hopefully you won't need to continue a journal, but for you and others, I thought I'd share how I keep track. I use a monthly calendar (for office use, like appt's and such) and put a yellow highlighter streak across days with no seizures. If she has one, I write it down, the time it lasted and any ...

Well, due to crappy weather, I didn't make it last night but will be going tonight. I found out what the med is that he wants to put her on and it's cholodin. Here's what I found on it: What is Cholodin used for? Cholodin is used in dogs and cats to treat the symptoms like lethargy and reduced aware...

Thanks Jane, I will. I can't figure out how to spell what they're giving me, so I'll look it up once I know and check out the details on it. It was like "colidin" or pronounced like that anyway. I have to call at 5 again today so I'll ask then.

Well, I had to try it last night as she had one around 7 o'clock. I gave the two tabs to her immediately. They started to kick in about 20-25 mins later. I called the vet around 7:50 as the seizure wasn't stopping but was very mellow. He said the valium only lasts about a half hour and sure enough, ...

Aww, I'm sorry too about the ups and downs. It sure deflates you quickly when they have one after a run of good days, huh? At least it does me, but then you just think, "Today is the beginning of another record." and keep hope.

Good luck to Jackson and an even longer record next.

If Ada appears to be having seizures when she is excited or playing - has the vet gone down the path of something like ADHD and she needs some sort of tranquilizer and not anti seizure meds. _________________ Jane (I copied this from Bethelonia's post so I'm not taking over her thread) I'm just bare...

Hi Beth, Ada has had this problem, but as you said, more as a post-ictal thing with her. I found some doggy diapers called "Snuggeaze" on SeniorPetProducts.com that work wonderfully. They're a bit expensive but work better than they're denim, cheaper version. I also bought a batch of cheapie childre...

Hi Beth, I'm glad you found this board as it has helped me a great deal. I'm still new to the whole epilepsy thing, I offer you what support I can give and feel for you and what you are going through. Ada isn't quite two and is having seizures that seem to come from too much excitement. We're hoping...
