Thanks for the comments. Here's some answers: He's not panting earlier in the evening and house is not hot. He's just not breathing properly. The panting seems less heat related. I do think it could be due to the humidity and how it effects dogs on AED's. I think it may magnify the effects. I also t...

Change in Finn's beahvior- need opinions

Hey Gang, Finn has recently begun acting very pre-ictal in the evening. Slinks around the house, constantly moving around seems scared. I am going on vacation next week so I am thinking he knows I'm leaving. I started giving him an extra 30mg (60mg total) in the evening to help. Late at night, he wa...

try cooking brown rice in chicken broth (use all natural- watch for preservatives) and boiled very lean ground beef. Feed small amounts. Also, please confirm that you are givng the dog 6, 64mg pills (one grain pills) per day? This may be part of the ataxia. Check with the vet. Give them lots of love...

Don't panic! What is the dogs weight, how are you giving it to her and how often, For instance, is it mixed in her food? Is this liquid or capsule?

Irish Setter Rescue picnic- Epi dogs

We just had our annual picnic this weekend, 70 Irish and 40 "non-irish" dogs :) I got to meet 4 other epi-dog owners. It was incredible to meet fellow epi-parents. All loved their dogs so much. These are not my pics but they are fun to look at. http://picasaweb.google.com/westphals1/IrishSetter2007P...

They most likely will not respond due to legal issues. Did you have blood work done? A full CBC chem tox screen would be a good start. They do sound a bit like complex focals. The addtiion of the cat could be a trigger. It may simply take an adjustment period. You don't know what the cat has been ex...

4th of July is tough. I just turn up the tv. It runs through a sound system so I can drown out the booms pretty well.

once he hears them, its already too late. He panics. I put him on the leash once it started to keep him from running and didn't allow him to run back to the car. It was a good 1/3 of a mile and they were shooting about every 10 seconds. I didn't make deal of it. He came in the house and just shut do...

thanks to all but I need some good thoughts and prayers, Finn's very pre-ictal this AM. last evening during his walk someone was shooting a gun nearby, this totally fried him. He was out of it for about an hour, just laying on the floor completely unresponsive to anything ,including buffalo steak! (...

Just a bump in the road, look at this way, only one seizure in 14 days, that's still a heck of a lot better than 3 a week right? You gotta look at the positive. One seizure here and there is just gonna happen. Not many dogs go on meds and just stop seizing, its very, very rare to see that. So, go hu...
