I Agree, it has a much worse rep than it should. My vet started Finn on a drug called "Zentonil" which is a SAME-E drug. She started him on it since he's on Rimadyl and Pb. It's supposed to boost liver function and help detoxify it as well. If anyone has concerns or is experiencing liver issues, you...

So Sorry to hear of your loss. You did the right thing and as said before, its sounds a lot like a tumor or some other brain related issue. Its very sad. You had so many great years together and you took such great care of her at the end. Many here have recently gone through losing their loved ones.

medically speaking, the levels are so low at that point they should have no value but for some reason, Finn just has to have that little bit. I even had him at 15mg BID and it was holding. At this point, even at 6 months and counting, I am not changing a thing! I beleive the term is "shell shocked" ...

you're right about the "plus" but I can't find it locally, the vets really just carry the regular at this point. I will have to look on line.

the bortadella vaccine is not very effective but I am sure they require it. I don't bring Finn to a groomer or a kennel so he never gets one. I do know the injection version is less stressful than the one that is "blown" up the dogs nose. Does the dog need a groomer?

The body has to adjust to the KBr, once it adjusts, the dog should be fairly normal. Did you reduce the level?

ARe you seeing a neurologist? This sound like a secondary epilepsy issue realted to the ear infections. I woud have that looked into. There could still be issues with the brain or the fliuds. The seizures when gettng excited is a bit of a red flag to me. It would indicate there's more going on in th...

IN NY, do you really need Heartworm prevention? its a personal thing but Living in NJ, I don't give it to Finn. I use Frontline Plus in the peak months and have not seen any correlation with its use. Lymes is a nasty disease and I will take a risk over the Lymes. I have him test for Heartworm 2x yea...

This is a tough one for sure, Finn just can't be of it. We are at the 30BID and its not even anywhere in the therapeutic range but he seems to seize if we go any lower. I am very glad that he's doing so well! That's just awesome

Try to spread out at least 2 weeks apart. That Area where he lives has a fairly high risk of heartworm.

Jeff, please don't take this as advice or some kind or professional direction, but that's a lot of KBr for a 30 pound dog. Please call the vet/ neuro and see if they would be Ok if you dropped that amount to around 1000mg or less (500mg BID). If I am correct, you are currently giving him 1750mg per ...

Mk, yup, my first thought. I think you were giving him a pretty heavy dose? Make sure he has a good amount of food with the KBr and you give it a few hours before he goes to sleep. The KBr is very salty and will upset stomachs.
