I am happy to report that Tux has completed day 11 and we are on day 12 with no problems.
It has been 3 months since he made it to day 12. The stress level in the house has been all but eliminated and I am also happy to report that Vanessa and I have worked things out and the last 12 days of our relationship have been the best 12 days since I met her. It actually feels like everything has turned around in this household.
12 days ago the vet did increase his kbr from 300mg to 400mg ( thats what it says on the bottle) .

We also talked to him about the skullcap herb that I mentioned a few pages back and at the point that we were with seizures every 9 days he did some research on it and came up with a dosage of it and said go for it. 12 days of higher dosage of kbr and some skullcap herb I dont know which would be makeing him go this long but I dont care we have 12 days today and he actually jumped on my bed twice this morning. I normally have to help him on to the bed. Im very optimistic right now but I think we have a new record coming this week. Thursday is the day to beat and I am very confident that we will pass that up and add to it.

Thank you all

GREAT!!!!!! I really think stress is a huge trigger. OK, can you update us on the meds and the levels he's on. For some reason, I was thinking he was still on that super high dose of KBr.

GREAT JOB

He is on 2 pills of 64 mg of Pb in the morning and in the evening
he gets a .5 of a thyroid med in morning and evening
he gets 2 ml of 400 mg kbr once a day
and now he is on a combination of Amino Acids, Vitamin b complex and skullcap mixed in with his food twice a day. That was an experiment but so far a positive one at that. he has been a lot more lively and hasnt shown any sign that he would have an episode since 12 days ago. the vet wants to check blood levels again in about a month after he has been on the higher dose of kbr and these new vitamins and herbs.

thanks. Sounds good. not doubting you at all, I just have never seen KBr compounded in a 400 mg/l solution before. No difference though. Glad all is going well!

We are at day 13.
I honestly was thinking i would never see him make it to 13 days seizure free. He has never had a siezure episode start after 9 am in the morning and he isnt showing any sign that he will today so I can probably safely say he will make it to 2 weeks and tie his longest streak of siezure free days. I dont know if I want to cry or celebrate. Today is such a woderful day. I am so excited for Tux and for the first time feel like we have made progress with his illness. We will keep you posted as the day turns to day 14.
Ohh happy day.

WAY TO GO! each day now is a record so be positive, hope for the best but don't get discouraged if there's a slight "blip" on the radar.

GOOD JOB!!!!

Unfortunately our record tieing streak has come to a close on day 14. this was a great run of days for Tux and hopefully we can build on 2 weeks now. He had 4 this morning and I think he officialy has strted his new streak as I dont think he will have another episode today.
Thank you for all the well wishes during his last streak.

Thank you

Just a bump in the road, look at this way, only one seizure in 14 days, that's still a heck of a lot better than 3 a week right? You gotta look at the positive. One seizure here and there is just gonna happen. Not many dogs go on meds and just stop seizing, its very, very rare to see that. So, go hug Tux and give him an extra treat from Finn! :)

well poo, was really pulling for him to make it.
this time he will break it, and by a long shot!
once the brain locks on to that track it seems really hard to make it stop.
but he will do it!

That's so unfair. I hope it's just a hiccup for Tux.

Better luck this time - I'm really rooting for Tux!

I just cant wait to get to a month with out a siezure. I senced that today was going to be the day And Maybe I caused this by stressing in my mind that is was going to happen. This is truly one of the hardest things i have ever had to go through in my life. I really thank all of you for caring and praying for us. It means alot to Tux his sister and myself.

do not blame yourself!!!! you have already shown what a wonderfull caring person you are by not taking the easy way out like some and just dumping the dog like someny would/have! you have shown strenth and a devotion that not everyone has.
this is a very hard thing to deal with. and even harder to manage.
I was very lucky to get Dylan under controll and I count my lucky stars every free day.
keep trying and I have faith you will too.
