Jackson is Breaking One Record After Another

Post by High_Voltage_Head » Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:47 pm

As of today, Jackson has gone 14 days without a seizure, and is still going. Yesterday (13 days) he broke a record going back over one year, and today's 14 days breaks a 2 year record! The last time he went 14 days was September 2005.

This really confirms that something has changed in the past few months. I'm convinced it's because i stopped giving him KBr in July. The seizures have been steadily (on average) getting farther apart since then.

His megaE and pneumonia seem good too. So he's gone from death's door to setting new records over the past 2 weeks. I am happy.

thats part of what makes this a horriable illness. all dogs are so diffrent, what is good for 1 is way wrong for another.

Kurt,

That's wonderful!!!! Maybe Jackson's one of those pups that does better on Pb alone. What is the plan? Are you keeping him on Pb and Keppra together or just the Pb??

Thanks all....i don't know what the plan is....bestselling book ("Medical Miracle On Four Feet: The Story Of Jackson The Giant Poodle")....movie of the week....Broadway....Hollywood....the sky's the limit.

Until now i never even imagined that it might be possible to get this under control. Now i can't help thinking maybe this is a miracle that's been given to us because he's such a good boy and i'm such a great guy too, apparently. The thing is, he's really not such a good boy, he's kind of a naughty boy, so it must be me! Hallelujah!

I'm back! I guess we have to cancel the book deal. Of course none of us really believed he'd never have another seizure but it was a nice fantasy while it lasted. And it lasted 18 days! Then he had a whole bunch over a few days and i went from elation to depression. Now he's ok again!

Just had an ultrasound on his liver today because the bile acids test showed high values. Liver not so good but not time to panic yet. Have started him on Denamarin which is one of those SAMe and milk thistle things. May have to reduce or eliminate the phenobarb soon but will see how next bile acids look before deciding.

Sorry Kurt.

Nothing seems to go well for you and poor Jackson. I wish life would cut you both a break.

Aww, I'm sorry too about the ups and downs. It sure deflates you quickly when they have one after a run of good days, huh? At least it does me, but then you just think, "Today is the beginning of another record." and keep hope.

Good luck to Jackson and an even longer record next.
