Do seizures stop after puberty?

Post by Romus » Wed Oct 12, 2011 1:23 pm

Because Romus's seizures started when he began puberty we were wondering if anyone has found that the seizures stop at a certain age?

Welcome aboard!

That is a good question! I'm not a vet, but I hardly think there is a connection there. :(

It is not uncommon for a dog to start having seizures during puberty. Sampson was 9 months old when his seizures started.

There are dogs who have had seizures that started early in life, ended up not having seizures later in life that they could be weaned off of the seizure medications. While others continue to have seizures until they die from a ripe old age or other complications.

Then there are dogs that start having seizures when they are getting older in their senior years.

So, I don't think it is possible. But you never know. Maybe anyone out there knows, they will chime in. :)
