My Rott Czar has been seizure free for over 2 and a half years. This is because I never gave up and just don't miss on the meds. Thanks to a great primary care vet (who didn't mind my panicked calls at 3AM) and a wonderful veterinary neurologist, we finally got control of Czar's seizures in January 2000. Since then we have worked on reducing his dependence on Phenobarbitol. Now with regular acupuncture and chiropractic, his Phenobarbitol is reduced from 900 mg per day (3 doses) to 400 mg per day (2 doses)plus KBr. The happy active dog I have now is the result being willing to make the effort to manage his epilepsy and working with dedicated vets. Don't give up!
