Merry Christmas!!

Post by Eley's Mom » Sat Dec 13, 2014 3:46 pm

It's that time of year; a time of year I didn't know if Eley would see ten months ago when she was diagnosed.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas (or happy holiday season if you don't celebrate Christmas)!!

I hope everyone had a seizure free Christmas. We made it, but had a bit of a rough time yesterday and this morning. He made it four weeks which seems to be his normal now, and for him is a miracle. He had half the seizures this year that he's normally had. He seized early Sunday morning, settled down and went to sleep. Unfortunately so did we. We didn't wake up until it was way past the time when we would have given him his extra Pb to keep away the clusters. Just as we were giving it to him he had another one, but came right out of it. But all day his eyes were dark and I could tell there was one more lurking. Sure enough at 6 am this morning when my husband was about to give him his Keppra and Pb, he had another one. He's sleeping soundly and I'm as sure as I can be that we're okay, but you know how that is. Taking a lot of deep breaths. We've decided that from now on when Jake seizes in the middle of the night, even if he calms down the way that he did, we're setting the alarm clock in case we fall asleep. Even though the chances of me ever doing that again are about zero.

Lynne,

Sorry that he had a rough patch, but glad to hear he hasn't had as many this year. We've made it through the holidays, but Shiloh's had more seizures this year than last. But remain hopeful by the addition of PB on seizure days, which has really helped so far.

Hope that we all find success in 2015!

I'm glad Jake's were better than usual!! The clusters are the worst.
Hopefully that is all for this year and you can begin the new year seizure-free :)

We made it through yesterday without any more seizures. Whew! I spoke to our vet and she said she wants to hold tight for now. With all the excitement of the holidays it's not unusual for seizures to sometimes get worse. She said that the bigger picture is that we've cut his seizures in half and that is something wonderful for him and us. I do know that, it's just that, well, you all know... just afraid when he has more than two.
Thank you for being here.
I also hope that we all have a much better year. Maybe this will be the year that there will be a breakthrough in this mess and we'll all throw a big global party!

Take care, and Happy New Year to everyone.

Lynne,

So glad to hear that Jake has done better. I sound like a recording, but we have to take our victories where we can. I think us epi parents know that better than a lot of people how grateful we are for the little things.

Shiloh had a few more seizures this past year that 2013, but we're hopeful for a great year for all!!!!! We made it through the holidays quietly which was wonderful.

Happy New Year to all!!!
