Trinity had a seizure last night. I guess there must have been a reason neither of us could sleep. We noticed a few "twitches," and got 5 mg of valium into her ASAP. However, within a few minutes, she had a grand mal. We used our liquid valium protocol and the other half of the oral valium tablet. She had another small seizure half an hour later. We followed up with more valium. She paced afterwards for her standard 2 hours. At 4:30 AM, she got her regular dose of PB and an additional 10 mg. of valium. Since then, she has been resting well with no signs of further seizures. i know it will be a long day watching and waiting.

After all the testing and med increases, I was hoping for longer than 25 days. However, it is a slight improvement from the 2 to 2 1/2 week cycle we had been into.

You need to be careful with how frequently you give the vallium. The more they get the faster their bodies learn to use it up and therefore the more you have to give.
It should be used for clusters only.

Dylan clusters badly, annd he doesnt get it till he has a second one in less the 5 hours and cant have it again for 6 hours.
he can have the pb more often. but not the valium

I spoke with the neurologist this morning. He wants to wait and see when the next seizure occurs. If it is less than a month, we will look at again increasing the bromide or adding a third-line drug.

He did mention that overusing valium decreases its ability to work. However, at this time, he wants us to use the rectal valium rather than the oral valium if we notice the "tics" that now seem to accompany her seizures.
