I saw someone post this on a canine epilepsy site on Facebook this morning.
Especially for dogs that are on KBr, sodium levels can greatly affect the meds.
I often give Eley fresh fruits and veggies to help curb this huge appetite of hers without adding TONS of calories - afterall, she still needs to watch her girlish figure!!
I never thought about the natural sodium of some of the fruits/veggies. Luckily, the ones I give her all fall under the low to no sodium levels.
This definitely gives something else to think about with seemingly healthy foods for the dogs!!

Re: Sodium levels in fresh fruits and veggies
Thanks for the link. Feel even better about all the watermelons I've been buying. The dogs love it! I'm not sure about the banana's though, I thought they were high in potassium.

Re: Sodium levels in fresh fruits and veggies
Thank you for posting the link! I make Jake's food and when organic fruits and veggies go on sale I really need a list of the best things to buy for him. We usually give him peas. But I also add either watermelon (it's great for their kidneys too) or a little banana. Colleen's right about bananas. You need to be aware of the potassium in them. Jake weighs 55 pounds and gets no more than a 1/4 of one a day in his food if we use them.
