The end of a good run

MK went a little over 5 months seizure free and he had a small seizure last night!!

I knew it would happen eventually, but I had really hoped to make it to 6 months, but even with what we got I'm very grateful. I guess I'll start the countdown again and hope he doesn't have anymore seizures.

that's a shame - was the seizure much milder than normal? It's scary when we think we're doing so well, and then our hopes that it will never happen again are dashed.

I hope you and MK are ok - and have a very good weekend.

I so totally understand how you feel Kiya goes so long then BAM. Sad thing is I don't get as upset as I used to, long as its just that 1 every couple of months. I don't even think about reducing her meds yet. I used to be so eager to cut down. Now I guess its time to really consider long term damage control of her liver. Im not in a position to pursue any testing so we'll just hang tuff for now.

I am sorry to hear about MK's setback but I really feel after what KiKi went through is that they need to have one every so often as a release so to speak - just like earthquakes - so the big one doesn't hit.
Hope things get back to normal soon.

I agree with that "release like an earthquake" comment. It has always seemed to me like something builds up inside of Jackson that needs to be released by a seizure. I can't really put my finger on it. The doctors pretty much think that's nonsense, and they might be right but i still get that feeling.

Sorry about MK, Vivian. Did this coincide with him being sick?

Thanks guys. Kurt, no I don't think this seizure coincided with the intestinal tract thing, but who knows? MK has never gone as long as he did this time, so it must have been time. One seizure every few months I can live wtih, but I always worry that the ONE seizure will lead to a cluster and land him in the hospital or worse.

Hi Vivian,
I'm sorry to hear about MK, but what a run. That was great that he went so long and did as well as he did. I read an article somewhere where a neurologist compared seizures to a damn getting ready to spill over, just like the earthquake comparison. Little leaks here and there, but eventually to much water fills the damn and there has to be release. No matter how we look at it, there still not fun. It's been horribly hot here and I'm just waiting for Casey to start again. Just to go to the bathroom is a chore for him, so it's out to potty and right back in, unless we are going swimming. Take care and give MK a big hug from us.

A small bump in the road my friend! Good run and we all are goin gto have those. What's more important is the overall quality of life. Mk is enjoying life and one day about 150 is not a bad record. I wish I could have that many good days in a row!
