GAH! I gave you the wrong dates. I started MK on the Taurine SEPT. 11, not July. He had his last seizure on SEPT 12. It certainly pays to proofread.

Sounds good! You talked me into it. It's just a vitamin, right? What's a good dosage?

And I keep telling you guys, this is the 21st century, there's no such thing as jinxing!

It's an amino acid and I bought mine at a vitamin store. I have read that one lady said to use L-Taurine, but I couldn't find it and the vitamin store said there's no difference in L-taurine and reg. taurine. I would prefer capsule form so I could dump it into his food, but my store only had the pill form and it's big.

The neurologist told me to give MK 500 mg twice a day and he weighs 72 lbs. I would think that same dosage would be alright for Jackson.

Where's Kurt? LOL There IS such a thing as jinxing our dogs!! :) I no sooner told everyone MK was doing pretty well using the Taurine then BAM!

He got 6 weeks to the DAY seizure free this time. I don't know if it was the Taurine or what, but I will continue using it in hopes it will lessen the seizure frequency. It's not hurting him to give it, so I will try anything that doesn't harm him.

**sigh** Here we go again, starting the countdown.

Yeah, well, once you get to know me you'll find out that i'm absolutely sure of all kinds of things that later turn out to be false. It's very hard on my ego!

But i'm not ready to throw in the towel on jinxing yet. I'm telling you it's hogwash, nonsense, baloney, rubbish, etc etc (i got out the thesaurus). The day i change my mind is the day i check into the insane asylum....not an unlikely event actually.

Sorry about MK. Now that you've mentioned his seizure, maybe you'll jinx him into not having another one.

Ok, i have finally gotten around to locating some Taurine and started Jackson on it a couple days ago.....500mg per day. Couldn't find the capsules so had to go with tablets.

Are we allowed to ask for an MK update? How's that taurine working for him?

Glad you got the taurine! It will be very interesting to find out how this goes for Jackson. I'm finding that the caps/tabs are doing the job the same as the capsules. I have a pill crusher, so I crush the tablets onto his food to be sure the Taurine is broken down and getting into his bloodstream.

MK is doing quite well. I started him on Taurine, Sept. 11 and he's had 2 seizures since then, the last one being Nov. 5. Is it the Taurine decreasing the amount of seizures? I don't know, time will tell, but I'm very happy with his long streak thus far.

I use Life Extensions for my vitamins and they have Taurine Powder.
Here is the link:

or at Vitacost:

Maybe I'll give it a try.

As long as you know the dosage you should give your dog. My boy weighs app. 72 lbs and the neuro recommended 1, 500mg dosage, BID. The mg. listed on the first website stated 750mg per dosage, you don't want to give too much.
