Unfortunately, last night was very bad, they made the dicision to let poor Lexi go. I don't know if they will do an autopsy (sp) to see if it was a tumor.
I will help pursue the fact that the sire, Bullet, should no longer be bred. His owner denied that Kiya's siezures were inherited. Now there was Lexi. The breeder of the bitch, who Bullet was bred to, is very upset & with all the research she has done has not come up with any other Shiloh Shepards with epileptic siezures other than Kiya, Lexi & a pup who is not related but had very mild focal seizures that were controlled with a low dose of pb.

Carolyn,

As we all know, the breeder could have used the sire with another bitch and no epilepsy was produced, it takes the perfect match up of genes. Still, if there have been TWO dogs from the same litter with epilepsy that is proof positive that the sire, dam and littermates should not be bred again! Good luck trying to make them see sense!!! If they're using top winning dogs you'll be hard pressed to make them stop breeding. All you can do is make sure the other dog show people become aware of this and won't want to tap into that line. But, there's always the fools that want the blue ribbon over the health of the dog and will take the chance.

Sorry, I was on a tear and forgot to say how sorry I am to hear that Lexi lost her fight. I'm thinking the rage was caused from a tumor, but they won't know unless they do a post mortem.

Back to my tear:

How can that breeder say with 100% certainty that your dog didn't inherit the epilepsy? GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
