Hi All.I have just changed my Vet to see if there are any more avenues to explore for treating the dreaded Epilepsy,My new vet has decided to try Bullseye on Epilease 1000mg daily along with his Pheno 150mg daily dose,
it seems a lot to try him on as I know they do a 100mg and 1510mg dose of Epilease or am I being to cautious about it..and has epilease done any good for others pets?..mayanbilly

Some dogs need to be on both medications. KBr (epilease) seems to be the drug of choice these days, but it has it's side effects. Some dogs do fine on it, others don't. It takes a good 12 weeks to reach therapeautic levels, so you'll have to be patient to see results on it. Also, you don't have to watch the clock when giving KBr like you do with Pb. It has a half life and can be given anytime during the day with food, unlike Pb that usually has to be given every 12 hours.

Side effects are hindend weakness, lethargy and increased thirst and hunger especially being that your pup is on Pb, too.

Re: Epilease
just something that may interest you guys... my cousin's dog was having seizures about once or twice a week until a friend recommended a raw food/grain free diet. he now has seizures one a month tops!
