Epilepsy - genetic transmission

Just wondered if Ned or Gary could comment on my post?

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the list. I have groenendaels, and over the next couple of years I am looking to import a couple of pups into Australia.
My main concern is that I need some direction in regard to how idiopathic epilepsy is transmitted across the generations in this breed. I have seen various articles which quote recessive, complex, polygenic and unknown.
Unfortunately some breeders are not forth-coming about epilepsy in their lines, and although I do have names of dogs who have epilepsy or have produced dogs with epilepsy it is really difficult to get accurate information.
Any guidance would be gratefully received.
