Greetings to the net! This is my first post here and I know the only way to get a definitive diagnosis is to take my dog to the V.E.T. (I have to spell it or he will know what I am talking about!). Kodiak is a 4 year old Siberian Husky who was rescued just about a year ago (Nov 2008).
While he doesn't have what appear to have "classic" CE symptoms, the behavior he exhibits (3-4 times a week) is stopping dead in his tracks for no apparent reason and rolls over on his back and stays absolutely motionless for 2-3 minutes. Then gets up then shakes it off like nothing ever happened. We always though he was just "power napping". To be honest, we have never tried to disturb him when he is like this.
Here he is in such a condition:
We have 4 other Northern breeds (Siberians and Malamutes - all rescued) and none of them exhibit such behavior.
Yes, I know I could get him tested, but should I take him to be tested?

he looks quite comfy in that picture!!!
Welcome! Sorry you had to join us.
On the Canine Epilepsy Network homepage they have videos with the different seizures and describe what symptoms the seizures entail. Other than that, yes I'd take him to a vet so they can determine what is going on. Is he doing anything besides what is pictured?

He does not start shaking or anything like that. Quite the opposite, actually. He is breathing, but other than that is completely still like almost like it is some sort of disconnect.

There are "silent" seizures or "absent" seizures which kind of sound like what he is having. Getting a video of an event might help you vet figure things out. Good luck and keep us posted. He's VERY cute !!! _________________ Susan Marie
