I joined this list to see if I could find an answer to this query.
On Fri. I picked up a new puppy at the airport-11 weeks old at 5pm. At 8pm we were at the Vets office in emergency. Puppy seemed a bit quiet from the flight- was OK at 6pm. Drank a lot of water- she weighs about 5lbs- then within 1/2 hr. vomited the water- wasn't hungry, vomited some more- so I put her in her crate for a short time. I noticed puppy lifting leg- front??? mouth still really wet from vomiting and she seemed to be off- gave her a bit of sugar and water as I thought perhaps she had low blood sugar from the flight- did that twice- puppy very cold, pale gums- called Vet and rushed in. Colour back by now but puppy very still. Skin looked pinker than normal. vet took blood sugar 5.9 so she said that was good. We could find nothing wrong- temp. was a bit low. After talking I was ready to go when puppy had petit mal seizure about 2 1/2min. She could barely stand and all 4 limbs were a bit shakey. Eyes were not dilated- maybe 1 a bit more she said. Came home and puppy has been almost normal ever since? My query is- being that this puppy is a show breeding prospect where do I stand on this issue? Will these seizures come back and what caused them? And yes we have a Vet appt. tomorrow.Puppy drinks about 3 cups water and therefore urinates very freq. and it is very pale to colourless.
Need advice
